Ford India has voluntarily recalled 20,752 units of its highly popular EcoSport model sold in India. The batches affected are the units manufactured, at Ford Chennai facility, between the January, 2013 to September, 2014.
Ford manufactures majority of their own parts under the component brand name Ford Motorcraft. Ford has re called the vehicles for fuel and vapour line corrosion problem that Ford feels will affect the safety in the long run. Ford will also run a check on the vehicles for reorienting wiring harness related to the correct deployment of side airbags.
Ford stated: “The safety of our customers is always top priority at Ford. For their peace of mind, we have initiated a Field Service Action to correct product concerns on 20,752 Ford EcoSport vehicles in India. This is a proactive, voluntary recall action to ensure customers’ safety and satisfaction.”
If your EcoSport is manufactured between the above mentioned period, Ford is writing to customers and asking them to contact their local Ford dealer so that the necessary rework can be carried out at no charge to the customer.
